Platform Overview

We study consciousness through innovative scientific research.

This platform features five neuroscience studies, each specifically designed as an adversarial collaboration rooted in open science.

It is part of a project led by DataCite and funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation.

SCIENCE OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Consciousness is one of the most fundamental concepts for understanding human mind, as well as experience in living systems and perhaps even in artificial ones. It has been a persistent theme throughout humanity’s quest for knowledge, from ancient philosophical texts to cutting-edge scientific research.

Numerous theories of consciousness have flourished in research over the last decades. These theories often present contrasting viewpoints, leaving many key questions open for investigation.

ADVERSARIAL COLLABORATION

The five featured projects apply the Structured Adversarial Collaboration (STAC) model, which combines open science practices with large-scale collaborative research.

The objective is to investigate consciousness through the scientific method of adversarial collaboration, in which researchers with opposing views jointly design and conduct experiments.
